Day 3: Rio Chirripo

Start the day breathing the fresh, clear mountain air as you practice yoga looking out over the beautiful scenery. This morning after breakfast we will visit the Cloudbridge Reserve which is a unique private nature reserve that is situated in a beautiful and remote cloud forest thirty minutes away from Rio Chirripo retreat. It was created to preserve and reforest an important gap in the cloud forest adjoining the Chirripó Pacifico river on the slopes of Mt. Chirripó. Cloudbridge is a sanctuary for the birds, insects, flora and fauna of the Chirripo area and has many beautiful waterfalls that we will walk to see.
After lunch at the lodge, you have an afternoon at leisure to enjoy spa treatments, explore the grounds, relax by the pool or to enjoy an optional activity (additional cost) of a cheese tour, coffee farm tour or organic chocolate tour.
After dinner, enjoy a meditative evening around the firepit as you listen to the river rushing by.
Overnight Rio Chirripo.

Day 4: Rio Chirripo/Golfito

After morning yoga and breakfast we will be traveling down from the mountains to the coast as we journey to our ecolodge. On arrival in Golfito you will enjoy a 30 minute boat ride through the awesome blue-green waters of the Golfo Dulce/Pacific Coast to Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge. The lodge is a 165-acre private preserve located in the lush rainforest of the 14,000 hectare Piedras Blancas National Park. It offers unspoiled remote beaches on the Golfo Dulce and Osa Peninsula which has been called the most biologically diverse place on the earth by National Geographic. This area contains Central America’s largest remaining Pacific Coast rainforest. Playa Nicuesa is a roadless mecca for nature lovers and adventure sports enthusiasts of all levels. Many local people still get about by hand carved wooden boats, fish for their dinner with hand lines, and always take the time to smile and greet friends and visitors with the customary “Pura Vida” (life is good)!
On arrival in this place of natural beauty, you will enjoy lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure enjoying the pristine beach and jungle surroundings. Dinner and overnight at Playa Nicuesa Rainforest.

Day 5: Osa Peninsula

Start your day with a yoga class where you can luxuriate in the sublime pleasure of being at one with nature as you practice your breathing and poses next to the ocean. Yoga classes are for all levels of experience.
After breakfast, you can design the pace of your day depending on your wellness goal. Walks on the beach; time spent meditating in nature or gentle swimming off the dock may be your desire. Or if you wish to explore more of the area, the lodge offers kayaks and snorkeling equipment for your use. Take off on your own or join one of the hotels guided tours (optional) to see whales (if in season), dolphins and marine life.
If you want an active land adventure, the lodge has numerous trails that wind through the rainforest canopy, fruit trees, and coastal lagoon areas. These trails are perfect for all levels of guided and self-guided hikes. The trails offer a casual walk/hike as well as challenging climbs. View terraces have been created to observe wildlife or just relax and enjoy the solitude of nature.
Your wellness lodge abuts the Piedras Blancas National Park. Several private trails on the preserve connect with trails in the national park. Since access to the park is through private properties accessible by boat only, you can be guaranteed little to no encounters with other people… making your experience truly one-with-nature. Among the wildlife frequently seen are White Faced monkeys, Howler monkeys, over 250 types of birds including toucans, trogons and parrots, numerous butterflies including the majestic blue morpho, and tropical mammals such as pizotes and tyras; reptiles such as Iguanas, lizards and amphibians such as the wondrous red- eyed tree frog. For a strenuous hike, there are two waterfall hikes with natural swimming holes.
Therapeutic massage may be arranged upon request in the privacy of your cabin or on the beach; making it a perfect reward after a challenging day of exploration and activities.
